York has a great variety of cycle routes both in and out of the city catering for all levels of cyclist, and is proud of its reputation as the UK's Premier Cycling City.

After introducing you to your bike and making sure you're happy, we provide you with a selection of routes so that you can plan your rides according to how you feel, what the weather is like or what you would like to see. Of course you don't have to ride every day, its up to you, and there's plenty to see on a walk round the city centre or a boat trip along the river Ouse.

Each route gives details of distances along the way with a large scale map and also detailed written instructions so you won't get lost. You'll also find we've marked lots of places where you can stop for a pub lunch, good picnic spots and also interesting places to visit.

Your accommodation will be close to or on one of York's comprehensive network of cycle lanes so you can set off straight away each morning. If you'd like to visit a particular place or ride a special route just let us know beforehand and we'll prepare a Guide for you.
