Enjoy a ride on the famous Settle Carlisle Railway to its most famous landmark, Ribblehead Viaduct, where we will be waiting at the station with one of our bikes and everything you need for your trip. You have the whole afternoon to enjoy the ride back down Ribblesdale but before setting off you might like to visit the fascinating museum, on the station platform, which charts the history of the line and its construction - in particular the building of the famous Ribblehead Viaduct. Leaving the station you will be heading down Ribblesdale past limestone escarpments and through the tiny hamlet of Selside to the village of Horton in Ribblesdale, in the shadow of Pen Y Ghent, where there are plenty of places for a rest and refreshments. From here the route leads down to picturesque Stainforth Foss which is well worth a visit, before you have a choice of route. Either carry on down the valley to Giggleswick and Settle or retrace your tracks for a short distance to Helwith Bridge, from here a quiet lane leads up through the hamlet of Wharfe, offering great views across Ribblesdale, on its way to the village of Austwick where the Game Cock offers excellent food and drink. From here you cross the A65 and return through Lawkland with views across the Bowland Fells towards the sea before returning to Settle and the cycle drop-off point.
