Here at The Cycling Centre in Settle we have brought four very different cycling experiences under one roof: our unique bike/rail trips, self guided day hire, 2/3 day cycle touring and off road mountain biking. Whichever you choose you can be sure you'll have top quality bikes, well researched routes, great accommodation and fully qualified guides and instructors who live locally and know the area well.

We specialise in combining cycling, a great way to see the countryside, with the Settle Carlisle railway, one of the best ways of getting here. We'll supply everything you need for a great day out including top quality bikes and detailed informative route maps. We believe we offer one of the most environmentally friendly, sustainable tourism experiences in the Dales and are working hard towards achieving accreditation by the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Our Going Green page shows how even small things can make a big difference to our environment.

Our off the rails tours, using our specially built 24 bike trailer, offer three main routes, leading you through the beauty of the Three Peaks, along the aptly named Eden Valley, or from the famous viaduct itself down scenic Ribblesdale.

We offer a range of self-guided day rides to suit all abilities, from our base in the historic market town of Settle. We're ideally situated right opposite the railway station, from where you can explore the Southern Dales taking in Malham and Gargrave or take a gentler ride into the beautiful rolling Forest of Bowland AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). All our routes have been ridden many times and are planned to avoid heavy roads and traffic, many of our routes use "Quiet Lanes" a Countryside Agency initiative to encourage walking and cycling.

You can stay for a night, or two, or come for a weekend break. Our 2/3 day cycle tours are designed to give you a good day's ride with plenty of time to reach your destination each day. With first class accommodation in B&Bs or top class hotels arranged for you all you have to do is pedal your bike - and smile a lot!

If you want to explore the high fells, demanding singletrack and fantastic downhills that the Dales are noted for then we will take you out on the rough stuff for a great off-road ride. Take a guided trip with a fully qualified trail leader who really knows where the WOW bits are! If you're new to off road riding we also run "Learn to Mountain Bike" weekends with nationally qualified instructors to introduce you to the fun.

Settle is a major town on the route of the new Pennine Bridleway and boasts a dedicated section of the route known as the Settle Loop. This long distance cycleway will eventually offer a route from Derbyshire to Northumberland (over 350 miles) using a mix of old packhorse routes and newly created bridleways. If you are riding the Bridleway or want to ride the Settle Loop we can find you bikes, maps and accommodation. For full details visit www.nationaltrail.co.uk/PennineBridleway

We love it here in the Dales and we also love cycling. Whether its your first time on a bike trip or you've enjoyed riding elsewhere, we know you'll enjoy going Off the Rails with us. All our tour routes are carefully chosen to avoid the steepest hills and even if you haven't been on a bike for years you'll be surprised how easy it is to ride a modern multi-geared bicycle. Your initial bike briefing and fitting will make sure you are comfortable on your bike, we'll give you some handy riding tips and we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
